Product Description
2009 release from this Grammy-nominated platinum-selling outfit led by singer/songwriter John Ondrasik. Five For Fighting has sold over 2.5 million albums. The band performed the album's title track at the 40th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, honoring Grammy and Academy Award winning composer Steven Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) who co-wrote the track. 11 tracks including the first single 'Chances'.
Singer/songwriter John Ondrasik leads "Five for Fighting" once again to the Mother Lode. This collection of songs encompasses solid emotional emotions from bittersweet to mellow and poignant. This is indeed music to listen to. The title track, "Slice", establishes the fine quality of the CD right from the beginning with an astounding and sweeping piano that grabs your attention and doesn't disappoint as it builds to a full-bodied crescendo of the entire band.
"Tuesday", another glorious song, arrives beautiful and tender, the singing strings coming home and staying in the heart. "Chances", "Hope", and "Love Can't Change the Weather" and their grab-the-soul lyrics showcase John Ondrasik's voice at its best.
"Note To The Unknown Soldier" will have Toby Keith running to shake John's hand. The strength of this song lies in its message of fortitude and redemption."Story of Your Life" will grab you on the 2nd or 3rd listen and you will never let it go. It's one of those songs.
"Transfer" will leave you flat-out amazed. And the poignant, this-could-happen-to-me love story of "This Dance" could give Cupid's arrow a run for its money.
My favorite song on this Slice CD, though is "Above The Timberline." Upbeat and strong, the melody gives us a man who knows what he has and knows how to hang on to it.
Run, don't walk to your nearest store before any more time goes by! Or get it online, but get it! Now!

“Every round I try to write the best songs I can, and perhaps step out of the box a bit. To me, records are about offering my worldview while providing sentiments to which people may attach themselves or escape into. Slice is where I’ve come from, where I am, and a few scraps I’ve picked up in between. All in a slice of time.”
Thanks, John Ondrasik! Thanks very much!
