Say a Thanksgiving Prayer for Angels

This year, take a moment and say a prayer of thanks to your angels for all their help and support.

How would you feel if you gave someone a gift and they ignored it? Wouldn’t you be disappointed and a bit hurt? God has given us the wonderful gift of angels, but many people completely ignore this gift or think of angels only briefly at Christmas and Easter.

When counting your blessings this Thanksgiving, do not forget to thank God for the angels. They are always with us, always acting on our behalf, even though, most of the time, they are not noticed because they work behind the scenes and are not visible to our human eyes. This is by design, for angels do not bring attention to themselves; instead, they bring glory to God. Truly, they are God’s secret agents.

As you gather around the Thanksgiving table, be aware that God’s angels are also present. These magnificent heavenly beings are always praising God, the highest form of expressing thanks. Let us follow their example and give praise God for every good gift he has given us. Let us remember to give thanks to God specifically for angels. You can follow this Thanksgiving prayer Bill Webber has written:

Prayer of Thanksgiving for Angels

We praise you, Almighty God, for the heavenly hosts you have created to carry out your will in marvelous ways.
We praise you, Lord, that you created angels to minister to us on earth, a sign of love for us that is beyond our understanding.
We give thanks for guardian angels who protect and deliver us, even though we are often unaware of their presence.
We thank you for all the times angels help us resist temptation, for we need all the help we can get.
We give thanks that angels lead and guide us on the right paths, although their ministry is not always evident to us.
We give thanks that angels inspire us as we lift our hearts in worship.
We give thanks for your gift of angels for their presence is a reminder that our loving God notices and cares for us.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Thanksgiving isn't only about sharing a wonderful meal with your loved ones, it is also a time to meditate on all you are grateful for. This practice of expressing gratitude is not limited to any particular religious tradition. To that end, Beliefnet has compiled prayers of gratitude from a variety of religions in honor of Thanksgiving.

We gather today, Lord of abundant life, as grateful children. Delighted and humbled by our bounty, we celebrate gifts of food and shelter, of colors that dance at dawn and dusk; we relish the scent of cooking foods, of burning leaves and summer's wet grass, of snowflake, of animal fur. We marvel at the intricacy of spiders' webs and fish bones, newborn babies and lines etched on faces of grandparents come for a visit today. All gifts from Your hand. When our meal is completed, leftovers stashed, and naps taken, we will leave replete, energized, and eager to go generously into the world and share our good fortune.

1.      Look for the “S” for Security: Make sure the sites you are shopping from are secure and have “HTTPS” in the URL.  The “S” ensures security.  Also, look for the padlock symbol and research shopping sites at locations such as shopzilla.com and pricegrabber.com.Also, there is an update to the information shared during the #ShopSafely press conference.  While the shopping sites do not need to have an "s" in the http address to be safe, be sure that the page that asks for your credit card information does have an https address.

2.      Stay Current on Security Software: Make sure you have the latest virus protection software updates from your provider before you start your holiday shopping.

3.      Think Before You Link: Employ a URL scanning tool to ensure you’re not clicking on links that lead to infected websites.  Free tool here: http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

4.      Keep Your Private Information Private: Make sure you keep your personal information private.  Create a separate e-mail account just for shopping and use a unique password.  Keep records of your online shopping by printing confirmation pages and e-mail confirmations.

5.      Mix Up Your Passwords: Each e-mail, bank, credit card account should have a unique password.  Write them down and store them in a secure location.
