School Days! School Days
Those good ol Golden Rule Days!
Reading and Writing, and 'Rithmatic!
Taught to the sounds of a hickory stick...
Tip #1
Do not...I repeat...DO NOT let your child think that going to school is a punishment! Just because YOU hated school, doesn't mean your child has to! Can all your horror stories, ESPECIALLY if you have young children. Don't scare them, for heaven's sake!
Tip #2
Start now getting your kids back on a school schedule! No more late nights! Start getting them up earlier in the morning! Give them a running chance!
Tip #3
Start reviewing math skills and have your child read to you if you aren't doing that already! School, like life, is competitive!
Tip #4
Check with your child's school NOW to get the name and telephone number and/or email of your students' new year teacher! Yes, the staff is there during August and they CAN give out that information! Be proactive with the teacher from the get-go! Then during the school year if problems arise, you'll be better prepared! AND that teacher may be more willing to contact you when your child is doing well!
Tip #5
Reassure your budding genius that school is FUN! And say it with a straight face and MEAN it. Ask around to find out who willbe in your child's class. New faces? Let everyone get used to each other! A Get-Together Picnic? Oh ,yes!
Tip #6
If you don't understand something, ask your teacher!
Tip #7
Try your best at everything you do!

I'm running a Back To School contest myself--it's a writing contest exclusively for kids, even gives the teachers a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to buy new books for their classroom! You can check it out, and maybe post it on your blog if you like it ;)
